3 Clever Ways to Decorate Your Office with Wall Vases

By: Alyssa Davis

Decorating your home office can be challenging no matter who you are, but for work-at-home moms, there are added challenges. In fact, sometimes working from home can offer a whole set of decorating difficulties that you would never expect. These obstacles come in the form of tiny hands that like to grab things from the desk, rearrange files, and create general mayhem in your neatly organized space. One way to alleviate the struggles associated with keeping your office supplies off limits is to use wall vases in clever and unique ways. Check out the three ideas below to get you started.

Perfect Pencils
Hanging wall vases are traditionally used for flowers, but in the home office, they are perfect for sharpened pencils that might otherwise end up in the hands of babes. If your work revolves around design or art, you can even store colored pencils in wall vases based upon their hue. Do not limit your thinking to just pencils, however. Pens, markers, highlighters and other writing tools can also find their home on the wall. Not only does this help to keep your writing implements safe, but it also provides a unique wall decoration.

Fun Flowers
It is true that wall vases are traditionally used for holding fresh flowers, but this idea offers a creative twist. Instead of using cut flowers, use artificial flowers that have been fashioned into pens. To do this, simply cut the stem of the flower to about half of the length of the pen you plan to use. Wrap green floral tape around the pen, starting above the point, and tape the flower’s wire stem to it. Create a bunch of flower pens for a lovely, and practical, wall decoration.

Ideas and Motivation
When it comes to getting motivated to work, there are always obstacles. If you want a sure fire way to brighten your spirits and propel you down the path of productivity, try using your wall vases for something a little different. Get three wall vases and hang them in a tiered pattern on your wall. Cut out three decorative labels and on them write the words: “Distractions”, “Motivation”, “Reminders”. Hang the tag with “Distractions” on the vase at the top, “Reminders” on the middle vase, and “Motivation” on the vase that is easiest to reach. Next, using colorful scraps of paper, write down words of motivation, favorite poems, verses, or quotes and place them in the “Motivation” vase. Then, write down reminders of why you work so hard and place those pieces of paper in the “Reminders” vase. When you are working, if you need to be reminded or motivated, you will have inspiration close at hand. If you feel yourself getting distracted, write down the distraction on a piece of paper and place it in the “Distraction” vase. Once it has been written down and put away, you will find yourself able to concentrate a lot better.

Decorating your home office can be challenging, but with some clever ideas, you can overcome them and spruce up your office decor at the same time. You may find that your wall vases become your favorite part of the room’s decor.
