3 Delicious Gift Mix In A Jar Recipes

By: Shelly Hill

Are you looking for an affordable gift to give to a friend or loved one? If so, I would like to suggest a Gift Mix In A Jar!

These recipes are really easy to put together. You will need to purchase quart sized Mason Jars from your local grocery store or discount store. I also recommend purchasing some decorative recipe cards.

You will want to layer the ingredients into your clean and dry jars in the order given in the recipe. Once completed, make sure you place the lid tightly onto the jar. Print the preparation instructions onto a recipe card. Use a hole punch and punch a hole in the top left corner of your card. Attach it to the jar with a piece of satin ribbon or raffia.

Here are 3 easy recipes.

Peanut Butter S'Mores Bars

1/2 c. milk chocolate chips
1/2 c. peanut butter chips
1 1/2 c. mini marshmallows
1/3 c. brown sugar
1 sleeve of graham crackers, reduced to crumbs

Layer the dry ingredients into a Mason Jar in the order given, ending with the graham cracker crumbs.

Attach the following instructions to the jar.

To make the bars, pour contents into a large bowl. Melt 1/2 cup butter, add 1 teaspoon vanilla. Pour over dry ingredients, mixing well. Pour into a greased 9" square baking pan. Bake at 350 degrees for 15 minutes. Makes 9 to 12 bars.

Pecan Brownies

2/3 c. granulated sugar
1/4 c. powdered cocoa
1/2 c. chopped pecans
1 c. all-purpose flour
3/4 tsp. baking powder
1/2 tsp. salt
1/4 c. semisweet chocolate chips

Mix flour, baking powder and salt together. Place flour mixture in bottom of the Mason Jar. Layer the remaining ingredients on top of flour mixture in this order: sugar, cocoa, pecans and chocolate chips

Attach the following instructions to the jar.

To make the Brownies, pour contents into a large mixing bowl. Add 1/2 cup butter and 3 eggs, slightly beaten. Mix until well blended. Spread batter in a well-greased 13 x 9-inch pan. Bake at 350 degrees for 30 minutes or until done. When cool, cut into 2-inch squares. Makes 2 dozen.

Banana Spice Cookies

1 c. brown sugar
2 c. flour
2 tsp. baking powder
1/4 tsp. baking soda
1/4 tsp. salt
1/2 tsp. cinnamon
1/4 tsp. cloves
1/2 c. chopped nuts

Layer the dry ingredients into a Mason Jar in the order given, ending with the chopped nuts on top.

Attach the following instructions to the jar

To make the cookies, mix 1/2 cup shortening, sugar and 2 eggs in a large bowl. Stir in 1 cup of mashed bananas. Mix dry ingredients together and stir in. Blend in the chopped nuts. Seal the bowl and chill for about an hour. Drop by rounded tablespoonfuls on to a baking sheet Bake 8-10 minutes at 375 degrees. Frost with powdered sugar if desired. Makes 3-4 dozen cookies.
