Now that you are a work-at-home mom and you have your own home office, it is time to think about how you would like to decorate it. There are many different options for you to choose from, and there is no reason why your home office can’t be stylish and appealing. The three ideas below are great for quick and easy home office decorating. They are also budget friendly, which makes any mom happy. I Sea You Go wild with your recent collection of shells from the beach and use them as inspiration for home office decorating. There is nothing more relaxing than a calm, blue room that includes hints of the sea. Begin by painting the walls a light blue. Paint the trim in white for a true beach feel. White curtains on the windows and prints of your children at the beach hung in white frames are the perfect accents to the space. A wide-mouth glass jar of seashells on your desk adds texture and a lighthearted touch. While white furniture would also be ideal for the look of the room, it is not a necessity. Any wood or light colored desk and chair will work well. Polka Dots Polka dots are not just for teenagers. Add this whimsical design to your home office to create color and personality. Polka dots are perfect for creating a spot that encourages creativity and outside the box thinking. On a white wall, paint polka dots in two or three contrasting colors. Pink and green, brown and blue, or orange and hot pink are all great combinations that have their own personality. If bold bright colors are not your thing, but the idea of polka dots is still intriguing, try using neutral colors. A white wall with beige and pale pink dots is equally striking as its more bold counterparts. You can also carry the pattern through the curtains and other room accessories. Simply Stripes Polka dots can be too visually cluttering for some people, but thin pinstripe lines can be perfect for adding texture and detail to a home office's design. Start by painting the walls any color that you choose. Select a color that is calming, but also encourages you to be creative and work. Neutral colors are great for this, as are some basic blues, pinks, yellows and greens. Once you have the walls painted a solid color, add thin stripes at 18"-24" intervals around the room in a lighter or darker shade. For example, a pale beige wall looks stunning with 2" stripes in a slightly darker beige painted on the walls. Be creative and allow your imagination to flow. Decorating your home office in a fun way is important. It will help keep you excited about working from home and inspire your creativity. Do not fall into the thinking that your work space is any less important than any other area of the house. A happy, productive work-at-home mom equals a happy family.
