Being healthy is important!

By: Elaine Kennedy

We all know that our health is the most important thing to stay alive. Keeping ourselves healthy can be a challenge. When you realize you are overweight it is an even bigger challenge.

When you decide you need to lose weight there are many difficult decisions to make. First thing you need to do is consult with your doctor. They will be able to help you to decide what you need to do and if you are healthy enough for a diet and exercise.

When you want to lose weight, the important thing to remember is the outcome will be wonderful. You need to set a major goal for how much weight you to lose and then you need to set weekly goals for weight loss and inches. You don’t want to set your goals to high because, if you don’t reach them you will feel depressed and will likely give up.

There are many diets out their now a days. Some of them may not work for you. You need to find something that will work and stick with it. Adding exercise to any diet will help you lose weight as well. Sometimes diets just don’t work at all and that’s ok. You may need to lessen the food you eat or change what you eat.

One way to lose weight is to change your eating habits. Add more fruits and vegetables and take out some of the sugars. Don’t remove the sugars all together; just take a few out to start. The worst thing you can do is remove the sweets all at once.

Going out to eat doesn’t have to end either. All you do is watch what you eat. Don’t go to a buffet style restaurant or order from a buffet if the restaurant you go to offers one. It’s to tempting to go back for seconds and thirds. It’s not a problem if the restaurant doesn’t offer a light or low fat menu, all you do is eat from the kids menu if they don’t have an age restriction on it. The other thing you can do is order a half meal or share with another family member.

Another way to lose weight is to eat six meals a day instead of three meals. This is called portion sized eating and may be easier than you think. When you eat six smaller meals you will give you a feeling of being full more often and will help keep your mind off of food. One thing you will want to do is make sure you don’t eat your last snack after 8 pm. You will want to give yourself at least two hours before you go to bed. This will give the food time to digest in your stomach before you stop your activity and sleep for six to eight hours.

This article has given you some information regarding weight loss. I hope you are successful in losing weight in a safe manner. Good luck!
