If you are in direct sales, there are a few different types of websites I recommend you consider. 1. Many companies have cookie cutter sites. These are great for customers to view products and place orders. Often the company updates these sites with not only product and price information but also with company information and forms for visitors to request information. I do suggest personalizing your cookie cutter site with as much personalization as your company allows, so that your site is just a little bit different than all of the rest. 2. I also suggest you purchase a URL for the purpose of forwarding the URL. You can forward that URL to your cookie cutter site. The fee for this is under $15 per year. The advantage of having this forwarded URL is you’ll have a URL to place in signatures and profiles online. You can use this URL on stationary and business cards. You can run ads with this URL and more. 3. I suggest a personal website with a focus on whatever you are selling. For example, if you sell jewelry, I suggest a website with a focus on fashion. If you sell kitchen items, I suggest a website focusing on kitchen related items. If you sell children’s products, I suggest a parenting website. This website should have links to your cookie cutter company site. With this personal site, you can add articles, industry updates and anything else you wish to have potential customers and potential team members view. Personal websites can also be optimized for the search engines. Find keywords and phrases that are being searched and then add content based on those words to your site. 4. A blog is a wonderful way to bring in readers on a regular basis. There are two free blogging systems, blogger.com and wordpress.com. Blogs can allow you to get a bit personal and share who you are with your readers. Potential customers and potential team members feel like they know you. Always check your company’s policies. If the company allows it, create a FAQ (frequently asked questions) for both customers and potential team members. This can be a web page on your personal site or possibly even a blog. When someone comes to you with a question, you can send them to the URL where you have the FAQ posted. If you wish to run a direct sales business online, then consider all of the above to help in your marketing efforts.
