Choosing the Right Design Concept for Poster Marketing

By: Colleen Davis

Stuck with your design for print posters? It can be hard to develop a nice and original poster design today. With tons of people and firms printing posters all the time, it is difficult to actually know if you have created the right and original design concept or if you just rehashed something that was done before.

In this guide to poster design, I will teach you how to choose the right concept for poster marketing. It is not really about getting the most original or innovative concept really. It is all about getting the RIGHT concept that matches certain important aspects. There are five main questions that you need to ask yourself to get you in the right path of choosing your color poster marketing concept.

• What is your objective? – The first thing that you should ask when trying to create a concept for poster marketing, is about your objective. What is your real objective in poster printing? Do you want to sell something? Do you want to communicate an important issue? Do you want people to see you or your company in a good light?

If you can determine precisely what your objective is, you can proceed more deliberately with your color poster designs. You will know what images and words you will need to achieve success with your poster printing. So make sure you sit down and determine your objective quite precisely.

• Who is your audience? – The next thing that you should ask, is who is your audience? The audience will play a vital part in your poster’s design because you will want to create a great design that appeals to them. So try to really determine who your audience is and their different aspects. Is your audience predominantly male or female? What economic class are they in? What educational attainment are you targeting at? What is their age? What are their likes and dislikes? By accurately and completely determining who is your audience, you should be able to develop an effective poster design concept that really turns the heads of the right kind of people that you want.

• Where will you deploy your posters? – You should also ask yourself where you will deploy your color posters. The target locations for poster deployment will help you determine if you need highly durable color posters for the outside, or if you just need cheaper and more standard color posters indoors. This is important because you will want to keep your color posters looking good for a very long time. So always watch out and see where your color posters will be deployed and try to match the material quality with those locations

• How much is the budget? – Finally, one of the biggest questions in poster printing is, “how much is the budget?” The printing budget is a big limitation in printing color posters. This will determine the quality of your posters as well as the type of design and materials that will be used for poster printing. So early on, try to determine your whole budget for printing. You will then know where to allocate the resources properly for poster printing. This should give you a good idea of how large or extensive your poster marketing design concept should be.

Great! Hopefully, these tips should help you decide on the right kind of concept that you need for poster marketing. With the right balance, it should be easy enough for you. Good Luck!
