Christmas Around the Corner

By: Kara Kelso

While it may not be time to decorate the Christmas tree or start singing Christmas carols, it is time to start working on your Christmas marketing plan.

It may be a bit difficult considering there's not one single snow flake threatening to fall nor have you even dug out the winter clothes yet. However, it's important you start making plans now to make this year better than the last.

For those in direct sales there's many ways to prepare.

1. Find out when the Christmas catalogs are coming out
Once you know when your Christmas products are available, then you'll have a better time planning what you need to do.

2. Make your Christmas hosting list
Are there certain people that have hosted a party for you and done a great job? Mark these people down to ask again. They'll love getting some of their shopping done for free, and their guests will appreciate getting some shopping done at the party.

3. Check Local Events
Are the malls and local areas planning their Christmas events yet? If so, get involved. Get your tables paid for and plans set.

4. Get your advertising list ready
Have you had good results from ads over the year? Make note of these and plan ahead to book your ads for early November.

5. Make your customer list
Be sure you have an organized customer list and people to talk to when your Christmas products are released.

6. Have a gift registry ready
If you don't already have a gift registry, put one together now. This is the perfect time of year for it. By the time Christmas shopping season starts, you'll already have a list of new customer who will most likely buy.

There are other ways to prepare for Christmas, and believe it or not there's some that are already shopping. Get your name out there - don't stop booking parties or advertising!
