The winter holidays are the busiest shopping time for both retail and for direct sales. I'd like to share some ideas to help bring the holiday sales to your business. 1. Create a coloring sheet and hold a coloring contest. Often you can copy a page out of your catalog and turn it into a coloring sheet. Offer two prizes, one for the child and one for mom. Make sure your name and company name are on the coloring sheets. Parents display their children's art work and this sheet will hang on the refrigerator. 2. Visit the senior centers in your town and offer to hold an open house where you'll take orders, wrap the gifts and ship the gifts out. It's very hard for some seniors to get out and shop. So bring the shopping to them. 3. Rent a booth at every fair and festival in your town. Very often, during the winter months, churches and other groups hold holiday shopping expos. There are two benefits. You'll get yourself listed in the promotional materials for the expo and you'll get to display your products to all of the visitors of the expo. 4. Send holiday cards to all of your customers. Consider putting a coupon in the card. The gal who does my hair sends out holiday coupons and her customers love them. Everyone schedules appointments with her so they can use their 10% off coupons. 5. Send holiday cards to local businesses. Create your own cards with your company name and logo on them. Often businesses display the cards they receive. Only send cards to those businesses you patronize. Sign your cards with a signature that indicates you're open for holiday shopping. Use your creativity. What can you do to make yourself stand out? How can you attract customers to your business to shop? Creating sales during the winter months will give you a customer base to work with after the first of the year.
