Downside to working at home

By: Corrie Petersen

When you work outside the home for someone else, you are always guaranteed a pay check. Whether you work for the phone company or a fast food company, you will always have money coming in.

When you work for yourself you may not have that cushion. If you don’t have people buying your products or using your services, you don’t have money rolling in. This can be a huge downside to working at home.

When you work for someone outside the home you will have a To-Do list each day you work. Your boss will be there to make sure you have everything you need to complete your list. Your boss is also there to make sure you complete those items.

When you work for yourself you are the boss. You are the one that has to make sure you have everything you need to complete your list.

When you work outside the home, your boss will find the work for you. Your boss will find ways to increase business. You boss will also hire help and pay them when there is too much work for you to do yourself.

When you work for yourself it will be your responsibility to find ways to increase business. It will be up to you to find work or sales. It will also be up to you to hire someone and pay that person when your business gets to a point where you can’t do it on your own anymore.

To some people working at home for themselves may not be something they would feel strong enough to do. Some may feel the risks out weigh the benefits, while others may feel they can’t or won’t make enough to support their family.

Some people may feel the challenge is something they are up to. Some may also feel they can earn money to support the family or they have money saved so they can take the time they need to make enough money.

As you can see, working at home for yourself can be hard, but it will be well worth it. You won’t have to ask for time off, you won’t have to get your vacation time approved, and you won’t get yelled at when one of your children is sick.

So why not look at your options and see what it will take to become self employment and working at home. It may be easier than you think.
