Decorating during the Christmas season is so much fun. It's time spent with the family and everyone loves to see what you have done.

I don't know about you, but where we live, there are four or five streets that are truly decorated to the hilt. Almost every house on the street has lights all over and lawn ornaments. It's so much fun to take our family to see all the lights and decorations.

How to Decorate for Christmas and Still Find Time to Enjoy It!

Wouldn't it be nice if you could decorate your house like this and not spend an arm and a leg doing it? Wouldn't it be great if you could decorate your home for the holidays, without any stress?

Here are a few tricks to easily decorating for Christmas, so you still have time and money to relax and be with your family.

Plan Your Holiday Decorating Early

When you need to save money but you still want to decorate, the best thing to do is shop for decorations the day after Christmas. Items are marked down and you get them very cheap. So plan ahead and save some money so you can spend some after Christmas to get the stuff on clearance for next year.

If you missed last year's after-Christmas sales, you can still find discounted holiday decorations for this year.

Stores usually start putting out Christmas items out before Halloween is over. You can get some good deals on things like ornaments, strands of lights, and lawn ornaments. Check the dollar stores as well. The strands of lights might be available even before this if you look in the hardware department or light bulb sections of stores like Walmart.

Another thing that will help is to buy a little bit each week. This will help later on when you need to start purchasing gifts. If you buy $20 of ornaments each pay period and start in October when it all comes out, you should have a pretty good inventory by the time Christmas comes.

If the store you shop at offers layaway you could also do that and pay a little each week. That way you get what you want and don’t have to worry about the item not being in stock.

Finding Time to Put up Holiday Decorations

Some people start decorating the day after Thanksgiving. Others wait until December 1st to do it. Which ever you prefer will work.

Spend 30 minutes or so each day putting up a little bit at a time. Even if you don’t light up the house until it’s all done, at least you are not out there for hours and hours doing it all at once.

One thing you do want to check is the lights if you are using strands that you already have. It would be horrible to put it all up and find out it doesn’t work.

Holiday Decorating with the Kids

Involving your children with the decorating is fun for them and it helps you out. This is a great way to spend time with them and enjoy their company.

Children love to help in any way they can. Even if it's just a matter of them telling you where to put the lawn ornaments and tell you how the lights should go on the house. When you let kids help, they feel special.
