Five Easy Tips For The Do It Yourself Wedding Planner

By: Darlyn Burkle

A do it yourself wedding may not be for everyone. For some brides-to-be, planning a wedding on their own may be too overwhelming and stressful, so they ask for help or hire someone to do all the work for them. But many other brides want to have a do it yourself wedding because of the fun, excitement, and the sheer pleasure of being able to say : “I did it”.

There are many things you can do to plan your wedding and do it all by yourself.
Here is an easy checklist for the do it yourself wedding planner:

• Brainstorm about wedding themes and wedding colors

There are many themes and colors to choose from for your wedding. Choosing your theme first may help you choose your colors. On the other hand, choosing a theme may not be necessary if you are not really interested in having a themed do it yourself wedding. Look through bridal magazines for ideas or talk to others that are married for tips on what worked for them

• Plan, Plan, Plan.

A do it yourself wedding is fun to plan and put together. The main reason for this is because you are doing it exactly they way you want, the way you have always dreamed. The important thing is to plan ahead of time so you know what you need to do and when it needs to be done. You will want to do prepare for your do it yourself wedding in stages and planning this out will help you.

• Make A List And Check It Twice

When you are planning a do it yourself wedding, you will want to write out lists for everything that needs to be done. Make sure you put dates on the top of each list so you know when it needs to be complete. You will need a list for the bouquets, the flower arrangements, the decorations, gowns and tuxedos, the receptions, and a master list that contains everything that needs to be done.

• Checks & Balances

Putting everything together is the final step to each list that you create. For example, on your list for the bouquets, the final step is having each bouquet complete. This may take several hours or days to complete, but you will be able to cross each item off and cross of that task on the main list when it’s complete.

• Your wedding day

Whether or not you plan a do it yourself wedding your wedding day will be hectic, but you can get through it with ease when you have planned properly. On the day of your wedding, you should not want to feel rushed, so plan everything. You should decorate the reception hall as early as possible, preferably the night before the wedding day.

Next, make and reconfirm your an appointment to get your hair, makeup, and nails done. Your nails could be done the day before if possible. That way you won’t have to do it on your wedding day when time is more limited.

A do it yourself wedding is ideal because you do it yourself. You will save money because you won’t be paying expensive wedding planners to plan every detail for you. Having said that, a do it yourself wedding is not for everyone, so make sure you decide early on whether this option is right for you.
