Kids love pancakes any time of day! Here are some fun and healthy ways to serve this child-friendly food. These recipes all begin as a basic pancake. Here is an easy recipe for basic pancakes. Basic Pancakes 3 C flour 1 tsp. salt 1 1/2 tbsp. baking powder 2 eggs 2 C milk 2 tbsp. oil Mix the dry ingredients together, then add the eggs and milk. Gradually add oil. You can also add blueberries or cooked rice or 2 teaspoons of cinnamon and 2 tablespoons of sugar. Bake on a hot greased skillet. Apple Pancakes are a slight variation of Basic Pancakes. Apple Pancakes 1 C whole wheat flour 1 C white enriched flour 1/2 tsp. salt 1 tbsp. brown sugar 1 3/4 c milk 2 eggs 2 apples, diced Mix the dry ingredients together. Add the liquid ingredients and mix well. Add diced apples and mix together. Bake on a hot greased skillet. Now for some fun! To make Clown Face Pancakes, make a batch of Basic Pancakes first. Make the pancakes in advance and set them in oven to keep them warm, then follow these steps: Clown Faces large pancake 3 orange slices 2 poached or fried eggs 1/2 cherry tomato To make a clown face, place the pancakes on a plate. Use eggs for the eyes, orange slices for ears and mouth, and a add tomato half for the nose. Here's a tasty and healthy treat to make a little one feel better when Chicken Pox strikes. Make basic pancakes first, then set them in the oven to keep them warm, Chicken Pox Pancakes Basic pancakes Strawberries Bananas Powdered sugar Chop the berries into small chunks. Allow one or two for each pancake face. Make a stack of pancakes for each person. Peel bananas then slice off the two ends and put one on top of each stack for a nose. Cut two thin slices from each end for the eyes, then cut banana in half to create a long curved mouth. Arrange the strawberry chunk chicken pox all around each face. Use clean fingers to drop a pinch of powdered sugar on each pox for a tasty bit of pus. This recipe is sure to cheer up your favorite polka-dotted people!
