Giving Away E-books in Direct Sales

By: Audrey Okaneko

When it comes to getting leads in direct sales, there are many different ways to meet people and introduce your business to people.

If you have never written an e-book, consider writing and offering your first one. If you’re uncertain of what an e-book is or wonder how long they should be or if you need a fancy cover, do a web search. Search for “free e-books” or get specific and search for “_____ free e-books” filling in the blank with the theme you might want to write about.

Choose a theme to write about that fits what you are offering. If you sell makeup, put together an e-book on beauty tips. If you sell kitchen products, put together a recipe e-book. If you’re a virtual assistant create an e-book about marketing.

The purpose of creating these e-books is to bring people to your site. Not everyone makes a purchase or joins your team the first time they come to your site.

Your e-book will have your name and your URL all throughout the book, giving people the opportunity to constantly be reminded of who you are and what you offer.

Try running some marketing campaigns strictly offering the free e-book. Don’t try to sell your products or the business opportunity, just give away the book. Try writing some articles and in your byline offer the e-book as a way to get more information on the topic you’ve just written about.

Many e-books have the writer’s URL on the bottom of each and every page. The book also has a bio about the author in either the front of the book or the back of the book. People are reminded that you are the author each and every time they look at this book.

Encourage your readers to offer your e-book on their own websites. If you give away the book to 100 people and each of them give it away to only three others, that’s an additional 300 people reading your words and viewing your URL.

Remember, you’ve written on a topic that relates to what you’re selling, so each person reading your e-book has an interest in what you’re offering.

Giving away e-books is a wonderful way to find potential customers and potential team members without blatant advertising.

Start your first e-book today and watch your sales grow.
