Granite Kitchen Work Surfaces & Sinks - The Plus Points To Your Living Space

By: Felicity Lightbody

If you need sturdy, easy to maintain fixtures in your kitchen, consider the benefits of a granite surround sink. Granite composite sinks resist the wear and tear of everyday use. These sinks are a solid colour throughout, and rarely experience fading. The granite surface is nonporous, long-wearing and non absorbent, making it resistant to heat up to 535 degrees and resistant to most damage as well.

These types of sturdy and resilient sinks can come with a high price tag. The very compact rock particles make the surface coating durable but its finish is not shiny just like the other quartz composite.

Granite kitchen sinks with built-in large-sized bowls come in a variety of shades and colours (metallic included). Bowls are either single or double with each having a depth in the 5 to 12 inch range. For the soaking of the big pots and the roasters ,you can use the extra deep bowls but the disadvantage to this is that you greatly reduce your below counter space .

The placement of the drain in bowls may vary. The most popular are the centre drain, but the rear-positioned drain are available and this kind of bowl has more space to use. These also provide you with the benefit of having more cabinet storage under the counter, because the plumbing underneath is set back further. Because they generally have no rim and are installed beneath the counter, granite kitchen sinks allow you to wipe food and debris directly into the sink. Under-mounted sink may be installed for concrete, solid synthetic or natural stone contertops. Recessed sinks are beautiful and function very well making them very popular.
