How Important Are Customers In Direct Sales?

By: Audrey Okaneko

Often, people join direct sales companies for the business opportunity. This is wonderful. Direct sales companies do offer a terrific business opportunity.

However behind every great direct sales company is an awesome product or product line.

I’ve often heard people say, “I’m my own best customer”. This is a wonderful testimonial to the company you are representing. Being your own best customer shows the importance of being a customer. For me, the business opportunity is second to the great products I’m using.

Developing customers can lead to building your business in many different ways. A satisfied customer very often sends other customers to you for ordering. I can not tell you how many times over the years I’ve gotten a phone call from someone who has said “my friend so and so suggested I call you.” This is such a compliment to both me and to the products I sell.

A satisfied customer might look for ways to introduce your products to others he/she knows such as through a fundraiser. I’ve worked fundraisers where I’ve gotten 50 new customers. This was all the result of one happy customer.

A customer who loves the products and wants to order more just might ask you how to become a distributor so that they too can enjoy a discount on the products they already know and love.

When it comes to team building, the vast majority of those you sponsor will use the products and sell the products to those they already know. It’s mind boggling how many sales are created from just fifty people who each use the products and promote the products to just those that they know. If fifty customers join you and then find a few customers of their own, it certainly adds up.

In addition to the all of the above, customers also help contribute to our income. direct sales companies pay a commission on sales and those commissions are money in our pockets. I work each month on building my customer base for those additional commissions.

So, you tell me, how important are customers in direct sales?
