How to Do a Holiday Promotion for Your WAHM Business by Writing Holiday Articles

By: Denise Willms

The holiday marketing season is here. Are you ready?

Or are you wondering if you can afford to get the word out about your WAHM business this year?

The best things in life still don't cost a penny... and that includes the best holiday marketing strategies.

A holiday article marketing campaign is one of the most effective ways to convince your potential customers that your WAHM business can help them this season.

Here are some article marketing tips and tricks that will help you be successful in your holiday article writing ventures.

1. Brainstorm holiday article ideas

Before you begin writing, you'll need topics to write about. Think about problems your target market faces over the holiday season. How your business can help them solve those problems?

To help you find out what your potential clients need help with at this time of year, visit forums, message boards and networking sites where they spend their time. Find out what they're talking about, and identify ways your product or service can help.

Write these topics down on a paper or in your computer. You will want to keep this list and add to it whenever you get a new idea.

2. Outline your article

Now that you have topics to write about, you are ready to create an outline. To create an outline you can follow these steps. Write the topic at the top of the paper. Write down 3-4 major ideas regarding this topic. Under each of those major ideas write three to four details.

3. Start writing your holiday article

Once the outline is finished, you are ready to start writing. I usually write my topic at the top of my paper, to keep me focused as I write.

Write an introduction for your article. Tell a story or ask questions that your target market can identify with. This will catch their attention and make them want to read the article.

Refer to your outline as you write, and explain each of the points you listed there. Keep it short and sweet. You're not writing a literary masterpiece, just an online article. Use short sentences and common words. A good article only needs to be 300 – 500 words.

Some articles end right here, but it's better if you add a conclusion paragraph. It gives a feeling of closure to your article, and leads them right into your author's resource box.

In your conclusion, remind your reader of how they can benefit from following your suggestions.

4. Resource Box

The final step is to create an author's resource box. Your resource box needs to tell your readers a little about your, and contain a link to your website. Your resource box will help:

* Bring pre-qualified traffic to your site
* Build a following for your articles
* Establish you as an expert

Once you have all of these steps completed, your article is ready to be proofed and submitted to the article directories.

You may not see results from your articles immediately. But if you continue to follow these steps, over time you will build up credibility, traffic, and holiday sales.

Then you'll be well on your way to creating a successful holiday article marketing campaign.

Happy holiday marketing!
