How to Lay Bathroom Tile Like a Pro

By: Angie Wenke

With so many Do It Yourself shows available on television, seems everyone is wanting to try their hands at home improvement projects. But even if you do not have previous tiling experience you can learn how to tile a bathroom. Today we will be discussing how to retile your bathroom floor using the easy peel and stick tile.

The area you wanting to tile should be a flat area that is clean, dry and free from cracks or bumps. If you already have tile on your bathroom floor you can retile over this existing flooring as long as the original tile is in good condition and free from missing tiles.

To determine where to start tiling you will want to figure out the square footage of your bathroom, you can do this simply by multiplying the length by the width. Once you have figured out the square footage of your room, you will want to lay down chalk lines to use as a guide in laying our tiles. Putting the first tile in the middle of your bathroom and working your grid lines from there. Now that your grid pattern is created, you will want to look at the bottom of the tile and see the arrow printed on the bottom. This arrow will ensure that you are placing your tile down correctly. Take your time in laying down your tile to make sure they are evenly spaced, and as straight as possible. Once you have installed all the full tiles you can, using your utility knife, pencil and ruler you can start to work on the perimeter. You do not need to be a professional to create a relatively professional looking tiled bathroom floor.
