How to Promote Your Business During the Holiday Season

By: Corrie Petersen

Some people think that business will slow down during the holiday season. They think this could be due to people spending money on gifts while others think it has to do with time. While this is possible, it’s not always the case. If you promote your business early enough and in the proper way, you can continue to see steady or increased sales.

When you create your holiday specials and promotions, you need to do this early. Halloween time would be perfect. Create or come up with what you are going to do and start promoting it on November 1st. This gives people plenty of time to either save for your product or service or to purchase yours now and save for presents they will purchase. Giving them plenty of time will increase your sales.

People love to get something for free. During the holiday season receiving something free is even bigger. It means you really care and you want to help them in anyway you can. Plus, if it works out they can give that free gift to someone else as a gift. It’s great! Depending on what you offer, you can give away a free e-book, special report, or sample of a product. Make sure it is in line with what you offer and it will go like wildfire.

Giving freebies to the kids is a great idea. You can make crossword puzzles or word searches that are geared toward the holidays. Then put your business name and website at the bottom and give them to the children in your child’s classroom. Another idea is to take these to the library or daycare center in your area. Attaching your business card to a candy cain and give them to the children at the Christmas party is always fun. You can also create a bag of goodies and include your business card with the bag.

Creating goodie bags to give out at craft fairs or give to daycares is great as well. You can ask others to give you flyers and samples and include them in your bag. You can include your items on the inside and then make a note on the outside that says the bag was created, assembled, and distributed by your company.

Holiday contests are another way to attract people to your site. You can run this in a number of different ways. You can give away a product or service to the winner of a drawing. This drawing could be for people joining your newsletter list. You could create a survey and ask people to fill it out. Then you could draw a name from all the people that send in a completed survey. Another option that is always fun is to create a form and ask them to go to your site and find the answers, then draw a name from all the correct responses.

There are so many holiday theme related things you can do to increase traffic and increase your sales. Be creative and let your imagination run wild. Not only will you grow your business, but you will have fun doing it.
