Organize your Way to Success!

By: Corrie Petersen

Are you trying to get yourself organized so you can start a home business? Maybe you already have a home business, but you need to get yourself better organized so you have more time to spend with your family.

Here are some tips that will help you become organized so you can be more effective.

• Chores

Start out by writing down all the chores that need to be done each week. These would be things like laundry and cleaning the house. Go into detail on these and how often they need to be done. Then you need to delegate these tasks to your family members.

• To-do lists

Creating to-do lists will help you remember what you need to do and when you want it complete. To-do lists should be created daily or weekly. If you do a daily list, you’ll want to add only the items you want done in that day. So if it’s Tuesday and you need to do the laundry, clean the living room and bathroom, and pay the bills, then add those to your to-do list.

When you run a business, you should create a to-do list for your business as well. You can do this one of two ways. You can create a separate list for your business or you can create one to-do list for both personal items and business items.

• Calendar

Calendar items so you don’t forget to do them. These would be appointments, deadlines, and birthdays. There are certain things you need to remember, but they don’t really need to go on a to-do list or they are too far out for you to remember to put them on your list.

I recommend a dayplanner or an online calendar that can send you reminders. Online calendars that you can use through Google or Yahoo may work well for you. They may offer email reminders, text message reminders, or pop-up reminders, so you’ll need to look at both and any others to consider so you know exactly what each offers.

• Business

Organize your business so you will spend less time looking for things and more time working it. When you work your business, you feel confident and you will reach your goals. Organizing your business is important, but it can be difficult at first.

You will need to organize your computer and anything that is in your office. Organize your computer this will consist of your email and your files. Create a file for each client or section of your business. For example, if you are in direct sales, you might want to create a folder for each of your business builders. You will also want to create folders in your email. These folders can match your other folders or they may be different.

You will also want to create files for your papers as well. You will want to get file folders or hanging file folders, depending on what you have in your file cabinets. While you are in the process of doing this, you will want to review what you are keeping to see if it’s necessary or not.

As a business owner, it’s up to you to make a decision on organizing your life to make things easier on yourself. To reach a higher level of success you will need to put these tips into action. When you do this, you will reach your dreams and goals.
