Out of Sight One of the most underutilized storage areas in a bedroom is under the bed. If the teen has an abundance of clothing that simply will not fit in the dresser or closet, invest in some under the bed storage tubs. Choose the type with lids that are hinged in the middle, so that when the teen is retrieving clothing, she only has to pull the box half-way out. Store out of season, not often worn or special occasion outfits under the bed. Drawer Dividers It makes sense that if each thing has its place that once used, it will return to its given spot. Use drawer dividers in the sock and underwear drawers to keep everything organized. Drawer dividers are also handy for keeping accessories and make-up organized in the drawer. Hanging File Folder Box Teens tend to have an enormous amount of homework that needs to be accomplished daily. A hanging file folder box equipped with seven hanging folders will help organize work that needs to be completed and control the paper clutter in a teen's bedroom. Label each folder with a day of the week and organize them either Monday through Sunday or Sunday through Saturday. Teens can then keep important papers for each day of the week stored neatly and without fear of losing them. This method works especially well if the teen has a project or report that she will be working on that week. Notes, ideas and research can all be filed under the day she will be working on the paper so that everything is readily available when she needs it. Shelves Utilize the walls of the teen's bedroom by hanging shelves. Books, knick-knacks, and other mementos can be safely displayed without creating clutter on dresser tops or the desk. There are a variety of shelf patterns and styles to compliment any room type. Choose the shelves that will coordinate with the teen's bedroom decor while providing enough space to hold an adequate number of items. Hanging Ribbon For the teen girl with a lot of hair clips, there is nothing more frustrating than not being able to find the one being looked for. End the search and organize with a simple cross-grain ribbon. Hang the ribbon over the bottom edge of a hanger and sew the ends together, overlapping them about an inch. Clip hair clips onto the ribbon for easy organization and storage. Slip knot hair ties on the same hanger to create an all-in-one organizer. When organizing a teen's bedroom it is important to keep the teen's needs and habits in mind. Creating easy to access spaces and organization methods will help keep clutter under control and result in a cleaner room. Do not forget to ask the teen's opinion and use the time to work on organizing the bedroom together.
