Beautiful and Bright Instead of traditional wall paint colors in a baby's room, think about painting the room shades of red, orange or yellow. These three bright colors add life and vitality to the room. Red and orange are highly nontraditional for nursery decor, but when the wall paint incorporates these colors, the room pulses with life and energy. Red, orange and yellow are colors that instantly create a happy space. In a baby's room, that life and energy are important. If the concern is about there being too much color, consider painting the bottom half of the wall red, orange or yellow, and painting the top half white. A wallpaper border or painted chair rail at the transition, will connect the colors and still make the room pop. Another option is to paint the room in wide, alternating color stripes. Yellow, orange or red paired with white will create a fun, whimsical stripe pattern that is sure to make baby and parents smile. Experiment with different patterns and looks to find the perfect, cheerful room for baby. The Colors of the Sea Parents miss a great opportunity to decorate baby's room with a sea or nature motif when they opt for pastels instead of the brilliant blues and greens that can be found in the rainbow. A room painted a silky sky blue can be accented with painted grass, trees and flowers for a beautiful mural nursery. For a sea design, paint the walls in a faux finish that gives the illusion of depth while fish and other sea creatures swim along the wall. One reason why these brighter, rainbow inspired colors are ideal for a nursery, is because they also work well as the child gets older. The wall that is painted a vivid blue will work just as well in a teenager's room as it does in a nursery setting. Although many people may choose to repaint the room throughout the childhood years, start with a high-quality, washable brighter green or blue paint, and repainting will not be necessary. Wall Designs If simply painting the walls a brighter color is not enough to capture the look desired, consider painting a design on the wall using the rainbow inspired colors. Bright rainbow flowers painted on a white wall would be perfect for a little girl's room. A baby boy's room walls would look stunning with bright, bold painted cars and trucks traveling along a painted highway. Swirls, hand prints, or brightly colored animals can all be done with the colors of the rainbow to create a bold, beautiful room. Do not be afraid to experiment with bolder colors in the nursery. Rainbow inspired paints look amazing, and create a cheerful feel that will make walking into the nursery a pleasure. Yes, bold colors are unconventional in a baby's room, but if they create the look desired, do not hesitate to use them.
