Teaching Kids the True Meaning of Christmas - The Christmas Story in Prophecy

By: Ruth Willms

Did you know that the prophets in the Old Testament foretold Jesus' coming thousands of years before it happened? It's true!

There are many such prophecies in the Old Testament but here are two that I want to mention. They are both taken from the King James Version.

"But thou, Bethlehem Ephratah, though thou be little among the thousands of Judah, yet out of thee shall he come forth unto me that is to be ruler in
Israel: whose goings forth have been from of old, from everlasting." Micah
5:2

"Therefore the Lord himself shall give you a sign: Behold, a virgin shall conceive, and bear a son, and shall call his name Immanuel." Isaiah 7:14

These are great prophecies and fulfillments to share with your children. You could help them find the verses in the Bible and read them together and talk about them during your devotional time. Or you could just do it together to help them research the meaning of Christmas.
