The longer something gets, the more room there is for ways to design it. A postcard can only be approached in so many different ways. Because of how short it is your hands are always going to be tied when it comes to getting creative with your design. Brochure printing acts as one of the longest and most difficult kind of advertisements to approach because of how many different ways you can handle it. This isn’t just about the types of words you use, which are rather diverse because of how many words you need to fill up that space. This goes beyond just the type of images you use, even though you can use a whole slew of different images given the space you have to deal with. But consider as well the way in which you fold your brochure. Certain styles of brochure folding are by far the most common, but are by no means the only way you can approach them. Now combine all of these different elements together and consider how they impact each other. I’ve seen brochures that open up into a larger image in the center, where a single picture dominates the middle of the page with several bits of information spread out around the edges of the page. I’ve also seen them designed with more folds allowing for several different small pages, each with an image and a description. You can do a more even balance between the two with a handful of pages, each with an even number of words and images. You can go with almost nothing but words with few or no pictures at all, and of course close to the opposite with an image heavy brochure that only covers a few brief details and nothing else. All different options, and all of them are going to greatly change the way you print brochures affects people and how your message will be received. Part of what will dictate what format you use will be what kind of message you’re trying to get across. Do you have a lot to say, or are you trying to use images to speak for you instead? Many brochures for cars often have a lot of pictures of the cars with a few basic descriptions next to those images, while brochure detailing various plans a company might offer really doesn’t need images to help them much. My point isn’t to scare people away from brochure printing, but merely to help everyone realize just how complicated this type of marketing can be. Sometimes this is exactly what you need, and brochures are able to deliver messages that many other forms of marketing can’t match up to. Put all of those different styles to good use to get the best brochure for you.
