What Is the Best Home Based Business For You?

By: Audrey Okaneko

I can not count the amount of times I’ve been asked, “What’s the best home business?”

The answer to this question will be different for everyone. The best way to answer the question of “What’s the best home business?” is to ask some other questions.

If time and money were not factors, what would you absolutely love investing your time doing? Would it be making crafts? Would it be creating scrapbooks? Would it be spending time with animals? Each of us is different so our answer to this question is going to be different.

Another question to ask yourself is what it is that you love. If you love jewelry, you might consider a jewelry business. If you love being in the kitchen you might consider something kitchen related. Don’t start a business doing something you don’t love. Yes, it might be successful for another person, but if you do not love it, you’re going to find it hard to motivate yourself. It works for the other person because they might have a love you do not have. This love will motivate them, but you won’t have this love.

What do you find interesting and stimulating? I love to write, which is why I’m able to produce articles. If you don’t enjoy writing, then looking at ways to make money with words would not be a good fit.

Now it’s time for the reality questions. What is your budget to start a business? While I know the word free sounds appealing, free is not always free. You’ll have to market, buy supplies, develop a website and more. If your budget for a business is only $25 per month and you’re considering something that will cost $50 per month, then it’s not a good fit for right now. What you can do is find a way to earn one year’s worth of business expenses, or in this case $300 and then begin once you have the funds. I really think you’ll be happier in the long run waiting to start your business until you have the funds versus jumping into something that is “free” because your funds are limited.

What about marketing? What is the typical type of marketing for the business you want to start? Make sure you’ll be happy to invest time marketing.

As you can see, the answer to “What’s the best home business?” is going to be different for everyone. Spend some time answering the above questions and find the right fit for you.
