I remember the first time I heard the word blog. By the time the word had been repeated for the 3rd time, I knew I had heard it right, but I had no idea what it meant. Today, I have 3 blogs and keep all of them updated on a regular basis. There are many reasons why direct sales distributors need a blog: 1. They allow you to get personal. On a blog you can talk about yourself, share photos of you and your family and really let others get to know you. 2. You can exchange links through button ads on your side bar or text links in a link list. It’s much easier to exchange links on a blog than it is on a website. On a blog, these links and buttons are right on the front page. On a website, link exchanges are often “hidden”, not on the front page. 3. Updating a blog is much easier than updating a websiite. Blogs only require one post a few times per week. You can post an article you’ve written or you can post information you’ve found out on the internet. 4. When you have a website, there are domain fees and there are hosting fees. With blogger.com or worspress.com you can have a blog with no fee to you. 5. Blogs allow comments. This means that those who read your blog can speak with you. You can then answer them back either via email, via their blog or by posting your answer right there in your comments. 6. You can share product photos without a huge sales push. For example, if you sell jewelry take a photo of you or your kids wearing the newest pieces. If you sell children’s toys, share a photo of your child playing with those toys. You’re able to combine personal and business without your readers thinking they are reading a sales page. 7. Blogs are recognized by the search engines. If you use tags and keyword phrases in your blog posts, they will be picked up by search engines. Start a blog. You’ll see an increase in those who ask you about your direct sales business.
