Work at Home Moms: More Vulnerable to Scams

By: Genesis Davies

Work at home moms or those who want to be work at home moms tend to find themselves sucked in by online scams. It`s a sad fact of life that there are plenty of con artists out there, attempting to grab money from unsuspecting people and unfortunately, their target audience is often moms.

Why are moms so tempted by these too-good-to-be-true deals? Most likely it has to do with the fact that we want to have it all. Being a work at home mom sounds like the best way to get everything . . . earning money while staying at home and sadly, many women are too trusting and too willing to believe that this is easier than it really is. Scams usually appear to be super easy. All you need to do is plunk down a few dollars and you`ll be taught the secrets to earning thousands every week.

Not all scams involve paying out money, though. As work at home moms and wannabe wahms learn more about online scams, they are starting to avoid those types of cons, where money is demanded. Instead, a new wave of con artists are popping up.

The New Online Scams
It`s easy to find what you think would be a great job online and apply. You`re accepted, begin working and only later realize that they haven`t paid you and have no intention of doing so. Meanwhile, you`ve just wasted valuable time and money on their projects! It`s becoming even more common these days to find scams like this because of the dropping economy. Businesses are out to get as much as they can from ususpecting work at home moms and in many cases, they are succeeding.

It`s virtually impossible to tell a scam job from a regular one. The ads look like any other. Your best recourse is to simply do some research on the company to find out what other people have to say about them. If the business is a scam, then you`ll usually find that they have already left others in the lurch.

Whenever you find a possible job, be alert. If they ask you to work on a sample project to prove you can do the job, make sure they pay you for this. If anything seems dodgy about the business, just look elsewhere. It`s not worth investing your time and energy in something iffy. A legit job will be happy to give you details and contact information.

Work at home moms may be more vulnerable than other target audiences, but that doesn`t mean you have to be scammed. In fact, with a little research, you can avoid a lot of problems in the future and find some real, paying jobs.
