You Can Nurse in Public

By: Cerise Nichol

How many times have you decided not to go out in public because you knew it was almost time for your baby to eat? How many times did you leave early because your baby needed to eat?

You won’t have to do this anymore. There are so many ways that will allow you to go out in public even if he needs to eat while you are out. Here are some of those ways for you to consider.

Back in the 80’s and 90’s mom’s used a receiving blank or a regular blanket to cover up with when they would nurse in public. Of course, she would only use that if she chose not to go home. She would have to be very careful when she would nurse with a blanket because if the baby moves just right the blanket can come off. Another problem is trying to see the baby and make sure he is doing ok.

Well using blankets are a thing of the past. You have got to check out some of the new things that have been developed. This article will show you what they are and how to use them to your advantage.

1. Sling

A sling is made out of material and uses a ring to connect. They are easy to use and they are perfect for nursing. Your baby will lay right in the material and you will be able to see with no problems. He will nurse with ease because it’s the perfect fit for a child up to 35 pounds. They are easy to fold up and put in your diaper bag and the best thing is they are machine washable.

2. Nursing Cover

A nursing cover is perfect for any occasion and any location. You just slip it right over your neck and you’re ready to go. It has a curved neck so you and baby can see each other. It is machine washable and they can also be used as a shade to protect him from the sun.

3. Nurse-ease cover

With a nurse-ease you will have privacy no matter where you are. The neckline on a nurse-ease is adjustable so you can continue to use it as your baby gets bigger. It also has a pocket that is perfect for nursing pads. This perfect design allows for convenient storage.

4. Blanket

A blanket is easy to use and most of the time is something you have with you. The bad thing about it is they have a tendency to fall off because you don’t have anything to hold it in place. In the summer time it is hard to use a blanket because they don’t breathe and they are not light weight.

As you can see, there are many options to choose from that will allow you to nurse in public. You no longer have to go hide or go home because your baby is hungry. Now you can make a decision as to which way you want to go and feel comfortable nursing in public.
