Go confidently in the direction of your dreams. -Henry David Thoreau When I was a little girl I remember lying in the grass and looking up at the bright blue sky and dreaming... Dreaming of far away lands, fairies, and everything little girls dream of. Blowing on dandelions and making wishes on dreams that may or may not come true. I have a story I would like to share with all of you about when my sisters and I were growing up. There were five of us and we were very blessed to have grown up in the country. We had wide open spaces, which we desperately needed. Summer was in full force and we had all been pestering our Dad for a swimming pool. Oh, we were bad. We begged and begged for a pool. Picture it for a moment...Not one child or even two, but FIVE saying "Please, Daddy can we have a pool!" The answer of course was a firm NO! Naturally we pouted, like girls do. All we could do was dream of how nice it would be to have a swimming pool to splash around in. Later in the week our parents had to go into town. We knew they would be gone a while. Well...we debated on what to do and of course nothing came to our sweet little minds except one thing, yep, you guessed it a swimming pool. So, we took matters into our own hands. I mean literally. We grabbed some shovels and a garden hoe and began the laborious task of digging ourselves a in ground swimming pool. Oh, what fun we had. We worked and worked on the pool and managed to dig a very large whole. Next we needed water, so we went to work on filling it up with the garden hose. With the our beautiful swimming pool filled with water, we put our swim suits on and hopped in. Oh, how nice it was. A dream come true! We were splashing having a grand time when my parents came driving up the drive way with their mouths agape. Of course we never thought about the reaction our Dad would have when we were working so hard on digging our dream pool, but that changed the minute we saw his face. It was hard to read his reaction because he had several looks come across his face from disbelief to humor. Do you know what my Dad made us do? He made us fill that whole back up. Can you believe that? After all of our hard work....but while we were filling our dream pool up our Dad went to town and bought us a little pool to play in! So, the moral of this story, aside from the fact that I have an awesome Dad, is that when you have a Dream and you pursue it....Dreams do come true
