With a little research, very little up front costs, you can get an Affiliate marketing business up and making money in as little as a few weeks. The beauty of affiliate marketing is once you get the gist of how to set up an affiliate marketing site and make it profitable you can copy that formula over and over again until you reach your desired income. Here are a few affiliate marketing tips that will get you started... Affiliate marketing is about finding products of interest and then promoting those products for a commission. In order to successfully promote products on the internet, it is recommended you first create a website that offers information about the products you wish to promote. For example, if you want to sell body building equipment you would build a site about body building. If you’re not sure of a topic on which to find products and build a website, simply start by jotting down, in no particular order, your ten favorite things that you enjoy or like to do, for example, sports, sewing, bicycling, walking, cars, weddings, pets, stock market, etc. Contrary to popular belief your topic of interest does not have to be some wild passion, but you do want to choose a topic that interests you. Working with something day in and day out helps if it’s something you enjoy. Once you settle on a topic, you will want to be sure there is enough interest surrounding that topic, so your next step will be to research the market. Don’t make the mistake of getting online and building a business around a product or topic that has little to no interest to anyone except you and a handful of others. Using the Google keyword tool is a great place to start. Simply enter the keywords related to your topic of interest and see how many people search those keywords each day. For example, a search for ‘how to build a dog house’ gets less than 180 searches a day, but ‘how to save money’ gets over 1600 searches a day. Obviously a website built around how to save money and supporting it with related affiliate products would be a wise decision. Following your research you will want to build a business plan to better define what you will need to make your business succeed. The Small Business Administration and SCORE have several resources you’ll want to consider. Also, consider the tax implications as well. Affiliate sales income will likely be reported on form 1099 and will be counted as commission income. Consult with a tax advisor to eliminate surprises. Their fees will be deductible. Next you’ll be thinking about creating your website. That means picking a domain name that is relevant to your site’s topic and deciding on a web hosting service. If possible you will want to choose a domain name that contains what your site will be about. For example, if your site is about how to decorate a cake, try selecting a domain name like cake_decorating.com or cakedecorating.com or my-cakedecorating.com, etc. Once you have a domain, you’ll need a website hosting service. This is a service that will host your website once it has been created. There are lots of web hosts out there and since it will be hosting your online business you need to make sure you select a hosting service that is reliable and offers quality customer support. Now it’s time to create your website. Your site should be designed with good content in mind. Before you start, carefully outline the information you want to include on your site. This will distinguish you from your competition; it’s what makes you better than the rest. Be fanatical about offering quality, worthwhile content. Your viewers demand it and the search engines crave it. Of course you'll want to find a website creation tool. There are several great tools available however creating a blog to host your site's content and affiliate products is very popular today. Particularly with the recent craze over blogs and the benefits of blogging. Now you are ready to find quality affiliate products to promote. There are some affiliate programs that perform better than others so choose wisely when deciding on which ones to promote. Don’t simply look for affiliate programs and products that offer high commissions, instead focus on finding quality affiliate programs that not only value you as the affiliate but also offer quality products. You want to make sure you get paid but you also want to offer quality recommendations to your customers. Both strategies will ensure increased commissions for you but will also build your marketing reputation and bring repeat customers. Finally, you’ll want to add legitimacy to your web presence. Give your customers confidence in your recommendations by having a strong privacy statement and by adding personal interest like a picture or a signature. Setting up a business phone is not required but it speaks volumes as to whether you are a legitimate, trustworthy business. You should include a business address as well. Without these things you raise doubts about your legitimacy. That’s it! With very little effort you can get started making money in affiliate marketing. Of course you should have realistic expectations. Despite all the hype, you will not get rich over night. That only happens if you win the lottery! However, for getting started online, there is no better minimal investment method for generating internet income than with your very own affiliate marketing business.
