Advertising outside the realm

By: Corrie Petersen

During the summer it can be a little difficult to advertise your business. The weather is warm and the kids are out of school which makes it hard to stay on the computer for a long period of time. When this happens you may find that it’s difficult to grow your business. No matter what type of business you own, there are people that are looking for you and what you offer. It doesn’t matter if it’s summer time or the holiday season, they will be looking for you. But, you must put yourself in front of them or they will never find you.

During the summer, you have to be creative with your advertising when you are not doing what you do during other times of the year. Summer time usually means travel plans, trips to the swimming pool, parades, and many other things that are fun for the children. Just because you are doing these things, doesn’t mean you can’t work your business in the process of it. When you plan ahead of time you will be prepared for your activities for the week.

Here are some examples of activities you can do to work your business during the summer months.

• Flyers

Flyers are a great way to advertise your business. You can put as much or as little as you want and still get your point across. Use bright paper that will stand out and make sure to use a font that is easy to read.

You can hand out flyers at a parade, at the park, or the playground. These are great places to hand out flyers because you will have adults that are there only for the kids. They are easy to pack with you and they are easy for the adults to take with them.

• Business cards

Business cards are perfect for any business and they are the easiest way to advertise your business. You can put your cards in a box in the car and take a few with you at a time or you can put a business card holder in your purse or bag and carry them that way.

You can leave your business card on the table at the restaurant you go to for lunch, you can hand them out to the adults at the swimming pool, or you can hang them on bulletin boards that you see.

• Samples

Samples of your products, pencils, and trinkets are a great way to get people to your site. People love to get things for free and when they are geared to the kids, it’s even better. You will make the kids happy, the parents will be happy because you made the kids happy, and they will be willing to visit your site to see what you have to offer.

There are many other things that you can do to grow you business during the summer. These types of things are good for any time of year. They give you a variety of different options to choose from and new ways to grow your business. Think about how you have marketed your business in the past and then think about new and creative ways to grow your business.
