When it comes to online social networking...one of the most popular networking sites today happens to be Twitter.com. Twitter is an online site that works in live time...meaning that when you type a post it is immediately seen by those who are following you. If you ever participated in an online instant messaging system, it is very similar except you can only type in 140 characters per message. A lot of online companies and businesses are turning to online social networking sites like Twitter to improve their Brand Awareness which in turn improves sales and/or recruitment of new distributors. When it comes to your social networking strategy, it is important to build up your followers and to keep those new people following you. Today I would like to share a few tips with you on how I built up my followers over on Twitter and how I continue to add new followers each and every day to my Twitter account. 1. Fill out your profile with interesting tidbits about yourself and your business. Make sure you include an avatar picture or business logo and a link back to your business web site. 2. Your next step is to decide what kind of things you want to chat "tweet" about on Twitter. You want your tweets to be informative for those who are reading them and you want to pose questions to your followers so that you can engage them in meaningful conversations. With that being said, you should not spam your followers with 24/7 business links. No one likes reading spam email so your followers are not going to like reading spam Tweets. 3. Do a search on Twitter and follow like-minded individuals and companies. You can search by keyword to find others in your same niche. Once you start following a new person and/or company, send a Tweet message to them introducing yourself to them. You want to start building connections and relationships as soon as possible. 4. Be consistent in your social networking. You can't pop onto Twitter and slam up a few Tweets once per week and think your followers will stick around. I suggest you spend 1 hour a day, 3 days a week on Twitter so that you can adequately build relationships and connections. 5. If any of your followers post questions or need help and you know the answers to these questions, jump right in and answer them. This will show them that you are a 'real' person and it gives you an opportunity to get to know them. Tweeting is not all about YOU...it is also about those who are following YOU! When it comes to networking on the social media site Twitter...it is really not about how many people are following you, but how you network and treat those who are following you that keeps them there for the long haul. Take your time and build your Twitter follower's list properly and watch your business connections continue to increase over time.
