How To Liven Up Your Wardrobe

By: Mercedes Aspland

Do you look in your wardrobe and think that everything is a bit drab and boring? If this is the case you might be thinking you need to spend big money in order to get something more interesting. This is definitely not the case. This article will give you some tips and advice on how to liven up what you already have.

The first thing to do is to decide on the style you want to go for. Spend some time going through magazines and seeing the looks that you like. Look at what the celebrities you like are wearing and decide on how you want to look and the image you want to give off. Remember that if the style you like is different to what you have now, don’t worry. You can create whatever image you want for yourself it is up to you. Also don’t worry what other people will think. Most people are usually surprised by a new look but if you do it right you will probably get nothing by compliments.

So how do you go about updating what you already have? Well before you go shopping go through your current wardrobe and decide what can be recycled. It is amazing how taking one part of an outfit and putting it with something else can create a new look. For instance, suppose you have a nice pair of jeans and a dull suit. If you take you suit jacket, jeans, a plain white t-shirt, put it all together with some accessories you have a new outfit.

Do you have any sewing abilities or do you know someone who can help you? If that is the case then you may be able to take some old outfits, cut them up, put a few together and make a new outfit. In fact there is a fashion designer in London that does just this. They are very expensive but if you take them your old clothes they will make you something new out of it. Obviously this is not in everyone’s budget and I am not suggesting we all become fashion designers. However there are some things that you could do to make your clothes more interesting. A few alterations and additions can make all the difference.

The next thing to think about is the accessories you can add to your outfits to make them more in the style that you want. For instance buying some cheap belts, scarves and wraps can jazz up an outfit and make it look different. Also think about Jewellery. It is easy to pick up some cheap bits and pieces that can really make your look.

If you go through these steps you will very quickly find that you have spent little or no money but have a completely different look. You now look in your wardrobe and feel more excited and look for new ways to put things together.

Remember to try lots of things out. Look at new ways to do things and to put clothes together. Remember you don’t have to follow the crowd and buy new clothes every season. You can recycle what you have and set your own trends. You might start a craze and get all your friends experimenting with their wardrobes as well.

You can also have parties with your friends and swap items of clothing with them so that you both have a new look and additions to your wardrobes.
