Running a home business by yourself can be a daunting and time consuming task and one way to increase your odds of success is by adding a great business partner to the mix. When it comes to finding the perfect business partner...there are a few things that you need to consider, so that your joint partnership will last for years to come. The first thing you don't want to do is just blindly ask your best friend or neighbor down the street. The person you want to ask to start a business with you should be a like-minded person with the same moral values and business ethics as yourself. This person should be a hard worker, equally business smart, have the same goals and ambitions that you have, and this person should commit to putting in the same amount of time working the business as you. Asking a person to start a business with you is a serious proposition and it shouldn't be taken lightly. You and your business partner both need to put in the same amount of work to drive the business to success. You should not ask every Tom, Dick and Harry that you know...but be more choosy and specific on who you ask. After you have come up with the perfect business partner, it is important that the two of you draft up and sign some legal documents which is extremely important. I have seen many business partners part ways and end up in a legal battle because nothing was in writing before they started. To protect you and your partner...get your legal contracts signed and dated before you even begin. Just because Jane Doe is your best friend today...doesn't mean she will be your best friend 5 years from now. Business partnerships can work and be 100% successful is both owners are fully committed to making the business work. Before you ask someone to start a business with you, sit down and carefully think about who you will ask and what you will expect from them. Once you have come up with the perfect person...then it will be time to present your plan to them and to spend some time talking to them. The two of you should not commit to anything on the very first day...allow several days or even a couple of weeks to pass before the two of you sign on the dotted line.
