Weak Websites In Top Google Rankings: Learn Why

In order to understand why Google sometimes ranks a weak website in top search results; one should know what Qualifies as a Weak Website? How do you measure the effectiveness of another website against your website?

· Analyze the Meta Tags, are they relevant? Has the competing website placed appropriate Meta Tags in relevant pages? If not, then the website is weak in terms of deploying the keywords and not leveraging the power of Meta Tags.

· Website Navigation Structure. Is the website structured for easy and meaningful navigation? Are all the pages structured hierarchically with their respective breadcrumbs in each page?

· Number of Unique Backlinks. Does the high ranking website have more number of unique inbound links?

If a website in top Google Ranking pages falls short of the above qualities as compared to your website, then an in depth analysis needs to be performed in order to determine why that particular site is sitting on the top SERPs. Following are a few pointers:

· Inbound links from educational / government/ authority websites. Is the high ranking website linked from the most potent and authoritative websites? Even a handful of backlinks from authority sites are worth hundreds of backlinks from search directories.

· Domain Age. A very effective way for a website to rank high in the search results. Google gives tremendous amount of importance to websites that are very old. So, analyze the age of the domain using who is Look up tools.

· Check the website for keyword cloaking. Is the website applying black hat techniques to rank well? There are still hoards of black hat seo practitioners out in the market who discover and apply illegitimate methods of search engine optimization.

Another theory that many experienced industry analysts swear by is, Google forces fresh results into the top SERPs in order to provide the visitor with different results. This is Google’s way of giving new results a fair chance.

E.g. The most common scenario is while searching for a celebrity and the results contain a mix of the celebrity website and website of another person with the same or similar name. The later will show up despite being not as popular as the celebrity’s website. It would not have as high number of inbound links or a high PR, as that of that particular celebrity’s website but Google brings it to the top search results to bring freshness and variety to the results.

Though not many webmasters have come across weak websites in top Google ranking, the ones that have are perplexed by this phenomena.
