I'll admit. This question is way more loaded than you might think! I say that after years of trying to make "something" work for me and my family. In reality, its been a number of things that I have been able to do to help with income. Bottom line is ...it takes disciple and know-how. And that varies from person to person. But consider these deal-makers and breakers... ~ Consider what skills you already possess. Write them down on paper and brainstorm ways you can use those skills at home by working for others. Can you write grants? Are you skilled at website development or design? Do want to watch kids? ~ Prepare to instill discipline in your life like you may never have before! It does take some degree of organizing and preparation and scheduling. Do you think you can pull that off? ~ Be teachable! Ready to learn something new? Are you motivated? Do you "hunger" for this new responsibility? I knew I wanted to be home with my babies. Its what I needed to do as a mom. I quit working for a big business (not making big money, but making more than I had most of my life) to make something work from home. I tried direct sales, didn't stick. I tried Ebay...got burned out. I watched kids for other people...(still doing that). Sold stuff at the flea market... Then I learned something new. I started doing my homework on affiliate marketing...well, some homework...I've not arrived but I'm still headed in the right direction. I started blogging. I sought help and God opened doors at just the right time... I didn't have a budget for buying business coaching or paying someone to design a website for me...etc. I entered giveaways and WON some business help and shared a WISH and was granted free business coaching which really was a turning point for me finding my niche. (You have to really work on this one...finding a niche. It is important!) I started hooking up with business groups and networked for answers. I have a really affordable, reliable website host. I've bartered free advertising on my site for website help from other WAHMs too. It took a little time but I've made money now with my website! And I've learned a whole heck of a lot! And I share a lot of what I've learned (freely) with others climbing the same ladder as I am. Hey, did I tell you I'm technically challenged? I had a huge learning curve! So, if I can do it, so can you. And I'm just getting started!
