One of the most important parts of being an effective leader is to maintain consistent communication with your Direct Sales team. Your communication doesn't need to be daily, but it does need to be consistent. Here are 5 ideas you can implement this week. 1. In-Person Group Meetings. Set up monthly or bi-monthly meetings. Use these meetings as a way to train your group members, encourage them to reach their goals and recognize their achievements. You can hold these meetings in your home or at a convenient off-site location. 2. Online Chat Room Meetings. Set up a monthly or bi-monthly meetings online for members who do not live in your local area. You will want to cover the same topics that you cover in your offline meetings. 3. Emails. Set up a weekly or bi-weekly email newsletter. This newsletter should contain: business building tips, new product updates, sales force promotions, changes in company policy, motivation and encouragement, team member recognition and reminders of upcoming meetings and events. 4. Postal Mail. Mailing business materials is more personal than an email or phone call as it gives your team members something tangible to hold and read. Try some of these ideas: a group newsletter, certificates of achievements, gifts for obtaining specific business goals, motivational and inspirational greeting cards and invitations to upcoming meetings or business events. 5. Telephone Calls. Make weekly or bi-weekly telephone calls to your team members. During these calls, talk with the consultant about their business goals and give them ideas on how they can work towards achieving them. If you are consistent with communicating with your team, you will continue to build a positive relationship with them. If your team feels that they have the training, motivation and support of their leader, they will be more productive with their own businesses. If their business is successful, then your business will be successful too.
