As a 20+ years Direct Sales professional, I can personally tell you that setting goals for your home business is a great way to keep yourself focused and motivated. However, I often see consultants who make unobtainable goals for themselves and their business and then get frustrated and disappointed when they fail. When you set goals for yours business, you really need to make them manageable and obtainable. We all want to dream big and land among the stars, but its important to start out small with your goals and increase them as you go along. I find that when I do weekly, monthly, semi-yearly and yearly business goals, that is what works best for me. Your goals should consist of: 1. Personal Sales - How much money do you expect or need to make every month? Once you have that figured out, look at your average party sales which will help you to determine how many parties you need to book every month to reach your sales goal. Remember, be reasonable with the amount of income you expect to generate every month. 2. Personal Recruiting - How many team members would you like to add to your team every month? If you answered 10 or more, that is unreasonable. I suggest keeping the figure obtainable and going for 2 or 3 new members every month. If you get over that, fantastic...that is just icing on the cake. 3. Team Sales - If your company has a minimum quota every month, that is a starting point goal for your team sales. If you have 4 team members and your quota every month is $500, then your minimum team sales goal would be $2,500 including yourself. To make an obtainable goal, you can double that minimum...making it a team goal to reach $5,000 in sales. This is just an example of an obtainable team sales goal. 4. Team Recruiting - If you are recruiting and building a team, you still need to help your consultants obtain their recruiting goals. For every team leader, this figure will be different. I am personally satisfied when my team brings in 5 or more new consultants every month. One of the best ways to judge your team goals is by personally asking each of your teammates for their goals. Once you receive their personal goals, use that figure to come up with your overall team goals. When you sit down and set obtainable goals for you and your team, you will find that you will be more motivated to obtain them. By keeping things reasonable, you reduce the stress and frustration that you put upon yourself and your team members.
